The ministry of Jesus

The ministry of Jesus

Lost in the wilderness Jesus wandered for forty days in prayer,
For the repentance of our sins and for his ministry to prepare.
For the reconciliation of mankind to the father above,
For the atonement of our wrongs, so that we can all receive Gods love.

Jesus then began his journey, and with his words he started to teach,
With his hands he healed many and said that no-one was beyond Gods reach.
With sinners he would sit, telling them how they could amend their ways,
And gave forgiveness to those who repented throughout his preaching days.

For his final journey, they laid palm leaves down beneath his donkey’s feet,
Before entering Jerusalem and to the fate that he would meet.
For his final supper he shared with the disciples the wine and bread,
Three days after he died upon the cross he rose up from the dead.

During the time of lent we remember what he gave up for us all,
And by doing a penance of our own, find his love and hear his call.
At Easter we remember his sacrifice upon the cross up high,
And from his resurrection we learn that our soul will never die.
