The Manger (Luke 2:7)

The manger has been cleaned and prepared,
With all the straw the animals need.
Placed into the stable to be shared,
Between the animals, for their feed.

To the stable, with its manger ready,
Come two seeking for a place they can stay.
Joseph, a carpenter from Galilee,
Mary, who has a baby on the way.

Then during the night, Mary gives birth,
So, from the manger, a crib is made.
The son of God has come to the Earth,
And into the manger, he is laid.

Mary gently lays down his sweet head,
Our Lord sleeping peacefully within.
From such a humble and lowly bed,
Does the story of our Lord begin.

O Gentle Child

O Gentle child who sleeps peacefully within,
A manger found within a cattle shed,
That with Your birth did a journey begin,
For one sleeping in such a humble bed.

A Leader who came to show us all the way,
A Teacher to help us all to understand,
That He came to share His life with us that day,
So when we are in need He can hold our hand.

That Christmas is a time for sharing your love,
Of sharing with friends the joy of His birth,
Of sharing your prayers with God above,
And sharing your goodwill with others upon earth.

Behold the light of the Wrold

Behold the light of the world, behold the new born child,
Born as a saviour for us all, one so meek and mild.
Born long ago in Bethlehem in a stable He did lay,
In a manger for His bed, with the donkey eating hay.

The wise men knew of His coming, with a star to give them light,
The shepherd’s learning of His birth from an angel in the night.
They all came to worship him, this child of humble birth,
The son of God sent to man to walk upon the earth.

He came so he could teach us the wisdom of God above,
To learn to walk in His way, and with us to share God’s love.
To heal us in our troubles, to guide us to heaven’s door,
And whose stories and journeys we would all come to adore.

Presentation of Jesus (Luke 2:22-2:24)

The day of presentation,
Jesus held within the arm.
A day of celebration,
For a child asleep and calm.

The moment of His sharing,
Showing others of His birth.
A moment of our caring,
For the Lord born upon the earth.

A babe so sweet and tender,
Who will walk far and wide.
Your love to Him surrender,
While He walks along beside.

A babe awake and seeing,
Who will slowly and strongly grow.
Into a Man whose being,
We will come to love and know.

Hope, Love, and Peace from the Saviours Birth

Let hope be found from our saviours’ birth,
When God sent his son to guide us on Earth.
With His birth, came a better tomorrow,
The hope of our Lord replacing our sorrow.

Let peace be found as we remember that day,
When God sent His son to show us the way.
To show that the peace of God we can share.
To stretch out our arms to show that we care.

Let love be found within the saviours’ heart.
Within that manger, did his love for us start.
That his love is with us, now and forever,
Within his heart we are always together.
